About the Founder

Remington Davenport

Gals Who Gammon was founded by Remington Davenport, a community builder and entrepreneur dedicated to modernizing and expanding the game of backgammon.

Remington grew up playing backgammon since she was a kid. She had a group of 6 girlfriends who played backgammon every weekend. Her love for the game was centered around time spent with her best girlfriends which is why she feels so passionate about GWG.

In 2023, she founded the NYC Backgammon Club with the goal of bringing people together through the game. What started with a small group of 7 players quickly grew into one of the largest and fastest-growing backgammon communities in the world, hosting events across New York and bringing thousands of people together around the board.

Through that experience, Remington saw firsthand how powerful backgammon could be as a tool for connection. She also recognized that women were still underrepresented in many spaces within the game. That realization led her to launch Gals Who Gammon, a community designed specifically to create welcoming environments where women can learn, play, and build confidence through backgammon.

Through Gals Who Gammon, she hopes to inspire more women to own their spot at the table, roll the dice, and discover a community waiting to welcome them.

Our MISSION

Making backgammon
welcoming for women

Our mission is simple: to make backgammon more welcoming, social, and accessible for women. In the tournament world we see only 10% women players — Gals Who Gammon exists to change that. By hosting events, lessons, tournaments, and social gatherings, we create opportunities for women to learn the game, develop their skills, and become part of a growing global community.
